Referendum Votes on Extension of Collective Agreements

This follows the National President’s bulletin issued on June 25, 2021 pertaining to the proposed two-year contract extension for both the Urban Operations and RSMC bargaining units.

RATIFICATION OF COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS

As contained in section 6.18 of the National Constitution:

“The ratification of collective agreements shall be achieved by secret ballot and must be immediately preceded by a membership information meeting.”

Although we are seeing a downtrend to the pandemic, health regulations still limit the number of members that could meet in person in various locations. As such, the National Executive Board has determined that the ratification votes will take place virtually, from August 3 to September 3, 2021.

Regional Offices will work in collaboration with Locals to schedule meetings.

A letter with detailed information will be mailed to all Locals on July 5.

WHO CAN VOTE?

Only Members In Good Standing (MIGS) in each respective bargaining unit can vote on the ratification of the tentative collective agreements.
