RSMC killed in Rigaud while delivering mail
CUPW National is sharing this on behalf of the Vaudreuil-Dorion local:
We wish to thank all of you for your words of sympathy and solidarity since last Thursday’s tragedy. We will pass on your messages to the family of the victim and his coworkers in Rigaud and Hudson.
When such a tragedy occurs in the workplace, the sadness we feel is often mixed with anger and disbelief. These emotions add to the emotional shock and worsen the grief. In these difficult times, your Brothers and Sisters in the Vaudreuil-Dorion Local need your solidarity more than ever.
Next Thursday, exactly one week after the fatal accident, we invite you to take a minute of silence and to wear a black garment or a square of black fabric to show your solidarity to your coworkers who need your support. A black square is reminiscent of a video player’s “stop” button. In our context, it means “stop workplace accidents”. With this gesture, we would like to commemorate the memory of our colleague who passed away last Thursday, but also the memory of all postal workers whose lives have been disrupted by a workplace injury.
It is unacceptable for a person to lose their life trying to make a living.
Let us never forget this.
