Sisters, Brothers and Comrades,
Last week, our Union lost Sister Megan Whitfield – a leader, activist, trailblazer, mentor, but also our friend.
Megan was respected for standing up and speaking out against racism, sexism and intolerance and was an advocate for greater diversity in the leadership of the labour movement. She pushed for the fair and equitable treatment of all workers, not only those she represented as the president of the CUPW Toronto local.
Her passing has left a void in the labour movement that will never be fully filled.
We invite all members to attend Sister Megan’s virtual funeral on YouTube tomorrow at noon ET. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZINNCmSZ07M&feature=youtu.be
In Solidarity,
Jan
